Have you ever played THE THREE GAME?

I used to play this with myself when I practiced violin, and I probably should use it more now.

To play this game, take three small objects.  It doesn't matter what they are.  (I used to use pencils.)  Place the pencils on the left side of the stand, table, chair . . . whatever's in front of you.  Then play the passage you are working on.

If the passage is played perfectly you may move one of the objects from the left to the right.  If the passage is not played perfectly you move one object from the right (if there are any there) back to the left.  If you have not yet succeeded in moving any objects to the right you do not have to do anything.

The object of the game is to get all of the objects from your left to your right.  When you have accomplished this you can move on to the next task.  In the case of some younger students that may mean practice is over.  But make it fun.  Keep it light hearted.  Smile and laugh when you play.
