| Smile when you play your violin! Not only do you look a whole lot nicer, it tends to release tension in your jaw. (And we know that tension is your enemy when you play.) I don't know about you, but I know that when I relax one part of my body, other parts seem to relax as well. When I was young I literally clenched my teeth when I played my violin. When my teacher got me to smile when I played, I found that my tone improved, I relaxed my neck and shoulders, and I stopped having neck aches when practice was done! |
