Hoy es el dieciséis de septiembre.

For those of you who don't speak Spanish, today is September 16.  That's Mexican Independence Day.  It is a day of celebration with music and dancing.  Violins . . . Guitars . . . Stringed instruments of all sorts are present.

Look into different cultures' music to gain inspiration.  There are many things that you can do with music such a mariachi or conjunto.  Rhythm matching is one.  Instrument identification is another.  Do you know what they call that great big bass guitar they play in a mariachi band?  It's a guitarrón!  Take unfamiliar holidays and turn them into a learning experience.
