| Yesterday we talked about four tips given to win a boxing match could just as easily be used to have successful practices. The four tips were
1. Fight Now. 2. Fight to win. 3. Fight furiously. 4. Fight continuously. The first tip is Fight Now. I summarized it as: I need to get to work right away. It doesn't matter where in the match I am. It is obviously best if I start fighting at the beginning, but no matter where I am starting to fight now is essential. No matter where you are, you can see it as a starting point. No matter how many times you have played a piece, or what the state of your performance is with that piece, HERE is the place that you need to start to get better. And NOW is the best time to start the work. If I don't start work now, my skills will only deteriorate. I will, little by little, get worse if I don't work on them. If I start NOW, I don't have as far to go to reach my goal. And if I start NOW I'll reach my goal sooner than I would be if I wait a week. If the goal is important, starting now is really the only sensible thing to do. To wait is to lose ground. What goal are you going to start working on today? |
