|Yesterday we talked about rosining the bow. We said that we don't need to do a thorough rosin job every day.
You do need to gently wipe the violin and the bow every time you play it. Get as much rosin dust off the wood as you can. Use a soft, lint-free cloth. Most people I know say to use a natural fiber cloth, and I would agree with that.
DO NOT USE FURNITURE CLEANER OR POLISH ON YOUR VIOLIN.
Never use any cleaner on your violin unless the instrument really needs it!
If you really do need to clean your violin use a product made specifically for that purpose. Then use a violin polish on it to restore a protective coating.
