Smile when you play your violin!  Not only do you look a whole lot nicer, it tends to release tension in your jaw.  (And we know that tension is your enemy when you play.)  I don't know about you, but I know that when I am tense in one part of my body, tension seems to radiate to all of the parts around it. When I relax one part of my body, other parts seem to relax as well.

When I was young I literally clenched my teeth when I played my violin.  When my teacher finally convinced me to smile when I played the violin, my tone improved. I relaxed my neck and shoulders, and I stopped having neck aches and headaches when practice was done!
