|Yesterday we talked about getting ready to practice, and I suggested that you may look at materials published by Brain Gym, which is a practice of "educational kinesiology" the study and application of natural movement to facilitate learning..
Today, lets talk about how to end a practice. I always prefer to end a practice on a successful note (of course I intended the pun).
When you finish the work on your teaching points for the week or the troublesome part of the piece you are working on, finish your time by playing something that you know cold and play it perfectly. End positively. Then stop for a moment and tell yourself what a good job you did! That way the last memory imprinted is of a positive experience, and it makes the start of your next practice session just a little bit easier!
