8Notes.com

This is a really interesting site with a good selection of free sheet music, information on music
          theory, instruments and composers.
Highly recommended site!

Folk of the Wood
Folk of the Wood is a very interesting site primarily concerned with folk music (obviously) and
promoting acoustic performance.  Of special interest here is their
collection of online lessons.

Highly recommended site!

Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation

This remarkable artist does a wonderful job supporting young violinist through scholarships,
          instrument loans and curricular materials.

Some good Music Theory Lessons . . . and they're FREE!

Natalia Paruz
The Saw Lady.  And you thought you knew how to use a bow!
Pictures, History, Videos and more!  This talented lady has played everywhere from
the New York City Subway to Concert Halls around the world!
www.sawlady.com

The Music Corner
An interesting site out of the U.K. with some good resources for students and teachers.

Celtino Foundaton
Not a music site, but definitely worth a look.  This is an organization founded by Scottish Fiddler
Bonnie Rideout and her husband Jesus Medrano that funds schools in rural Honduras.

Virtual Bluegrass Band
This is a wonderful web site produced by Dave Marshall.  It contains MIDI accompaniments to many
tunes some of us already know.  Totally free!  Great for practice, figuring out how to play some
of our favorite tunes, or just plain fun!  The link goes right to his Tune List, but explore what he's
got there.  (Maybe we can convince him to put down the banjo and pick up the fiddle!)
ALF STUDIOS . . . Concert violins and violas by Gregg T. Alf

Creators of Fine Instruments in Ann Arbor, MI

Ken Altman, Bow Maker . . . Finely crafted bows for violin, viola, cello and bass.

Check out the section on How Bows Are Made

William Atwood, Violin Maker

Look at his section on computer analysis of a specific violin's accoustics.

Ralph Ashmead . . . Period Bow Maker

Some really interesting historical bow recreations.

Rivinus Instruments

The picture to the right is NOT distorted.  That's the way the instrument looks.
These folks make very interesting stringed instruments.  This is a Pellegrina!
Innovative designs with ergonomically correct instruments!  What a Concept!

Bois d'Harmonie
Not a Luthier or Violin Maker, but a supplier of some very pretty accessories.  Also an
interesting discussion of woods used in violins.

Hans Nikolaos Pluhar
Hans Nikolaos Pluhar is a luthier who lives in England. Very pretty instruments. He has a
nice website with interesting pictures in the Work in Progress section.  He has a recording of
Erich Höbarth playing the Adagio of J.S.Bach's g-minor Sonata on one of his violins!  Maybe
next Christmas (hint! hint!)...   Watch for an article about him. Maybe Gül, his new wife
who plays the viola, will be kind enough to answer a few questions as well!!!

Joshua Henry  -- Fine Bows
Mr Henry is a bowmaker in the Washington D.C. area who runs a nice site about bows.
